Aspen in July generally experiences pleasant weather with warm days and cool nights. Daytime temperatures typically range from 70°F to 80°F (21°C to 27°C), but it can get cooler in the evenings, dropping to around 40°F to 50°F (4°C to 10°C). These storms usually roll in during the late afternoon or early evening and last from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Packing Tips

Layers:
Packing in layers is essential due to the temperature variations throughout the day. Bring lightweight clothing for warm daytime activities and add layers like a sweater or jacket for cooler evenings.

Rain Gear:
A waterproof jacket will help you stay dry during unexpected showers.

Comfortable Shoes:
Aspen offers plenty of outdoor activities like hiking and exploring, so pack comfortable walking or hiking shoes.

Sun Protection:
Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat will protect you from the sun’s strong UV rays at high altitudes.

Daytime Attire:
Plan to dress comfortably in casual attire for the morning sessions, which will be followed immediately by lunch and leisure activities.

Evening Attire:
Men: A collared shirt, slacks or neat jeans, and closed-toed shoes. A light sweater or jacket is advisable for cooler evenings.

Women: A nice dress, blouse with slacks or a skirt, and closed-toed shoes or dressy sandals. A shawl or light cardigan can be useful for the drop in temperature after sunset.

Aspen Elevation & Hydration

Aspen sits at an elevation of approximately 8,000 feet (2,438 meters) above sea level.

At higher altitudes, the air is thinner, which can lead to quicker dehydration. Drinking water frequently is crucial to help acclimate to the altitude and prevent altitude sickness. It’s recommended to drink at least three liters of water daily during your stay. Dizziness, fatigue, headache, and difficulty breathing are all symptoms of dehydration/altitude sickness. If you experience these symptoms, rest, hydrate, and request medical attention if necessary.

In order to reduce symptoms of altitude sickness, abstain from consuming alcohol in the days leading up to the trip. Upon arrival be sure to hydrate and be sure to get plenty of rest and avoid overexertion.
